NOVAS ESTRATÉGIAS NA EDUCAÇÃO? O USO DE VIDEO ABSTRACTS EM ECOLOGIA E AMBIENTE NA SALA DE AULA

Resumo

As mudanças que a sociedade tem sofrido nos últimos anos tem feito com que seja necessário ajustar as práticas educativas a novos contextos. Simultaneamente, com o advento das novas tecnologias e com o aparecimento da pandemia COVID-19 o modo como comunicamos ciência tornou-se mais complexo. Nesta nova realidade, o vídeo aparece como uma das ferramentas essenciais para disseminar o conteúdo científico. Entre os vários formatos, o video abstract tem ganho especial destaque. Como versão audiovisual do artigo, assegura a qualidade e o rigor, porém apesar do seu potencial, ainda se desconhece de que forma os professores o podem incorporar nas suas aulas. Para isso foi aplicado um estudo de receção a um vídeo abstract original. Este artigo discute os resultados de uma série de entrevistas subsequentes a professores de Biologia e Geologia e ex-alunos para perceber de que modo o vídeo abstract pode ser integrado numa estratégia de ensino aprendizagem.

Miguel Filipe Leite Ferreira, Centre for Functional Ecology, University of Coimbra

Miguel Ferreira has a degree in Biology (2005), a master's in Quality and Environmental Management (2011) and a postgraduate degree in Communication (2015). He concluded the Course of Audio-visual Post-Production at the Restart - Institute of Creativity, Arts and New Technologies and worked for six years as a Science Explainer/Coordinator at Lousal Ciência Viva Centre. He is currently a Science Communicator and a Researcher at the Centre for Functional Ecology of the University of Coimbra. He is attending the doctoral programme in "History of Science and Scientific Education" with a research project focused on video abstracts.

João Loureiro, Centre for Functional Ecology, University of Coimbra

 I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Life Sciences (with tenure), Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra, vice-coordinator of the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE). My current interests are focused in the study of the ecology and evolution of plant species. Together with Sílvia Castro, coordinates the FLOWer Lab, whose objectives are to study plant diversification and sympatric speciation through polyploidization processes and the plant-pollinator interactions that generate the current diversity patterns in patterns in plants. In applied science, we are interested in exploring pollination as an ecosystem service critical to the sustainability of agroecosystems. The group has made efforts towards the conservation of biodiversity, through studies of reproductive biology, ecology and in situ and ex situ conservation of endangered species and valuing of endogenous genetic resources.

António Granado, NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Lisboa

António Granado is an assistant professor of Journalism at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. For more than 26 years, he has worked as a science journalist, mainly at Público, one of Portugal's main daily quality newspapers, where he also was science editor, sub-editor-in-chief, managing editor and online editor. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as the online editor of RTP, the Portuguese public broadcaster. He holds a MSc on Science Journalism from Boston University, in the US, and PhD on Communication Sciences from the University of Leeds, in the UK. As an academic, he has taught at several Portuguese universities, among which University of Coimbra where he was an invited lecturer for ten years. As a journalist, he has written extensively about Science and the environment. At Universidade Nova de Lisboa, he is the coordinator of the Master in Journalism. Together with Ana Sanchez, he also coordinates the Master in Science Communication, the only of its kind in Portugal. His main research interests are science communication, science journalism and online media.

Betina Lopes, CIDTFF – Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers, University of Aveiro

Currently a Full-time Researcher at CIDTFF (University of Aveiro). Graduated in Biology and Geology Teaching (2004) and holds a master's in science communication and education (2007) and a PhD in Education (2013, Didactics and Curricular Development). Her current research interests orbitate around Science (teacher) education particularly developed in the context of international cooperation for development.
